much ado about love.

Lest I be mistaken for a sop who rant about love, I should first set the context of this entry: is was in response to 2 frens of mine who asked me such questions in the same day, and I am somewhat happy about my reply, so I shall blog it. In case I need it later. Hah. Nothing beats reading ur own advise, when you are an egolomaniac.

"Love is but sadness gone right. To love is to willingly embrace the sorrow that comes, hoping that it will be alright in the end."

In love, there are 99 things that can go wrong for that single thing that can go right.
In love, there are all those bitter and sour moments that make the sweet ones seem so much more than they were.
In love, you willingly stomach atrocities in the hope that the reward will balance it all.

To be in love, is to go against the odds of failure, to go against the natural confluence of the four second rule.
To be in love, is to abandon thought, to place logic, reason, self and future on the wagering table.
To be in love, is to wager with you body, mind and soul.
To be in love, is to know there will be pain, and accept it willingly.

So why do we still love? Beats me.
Perhaps the reward is indeed greater than the sorrow first endured?
Perhaps we are all emotional masochist who thrive on such self-inflicted tortures?
Or perhaps it is so deeply programmed within us that we love, inspite of.

Yet love is this very wonderful thing that leverages on all these piled up sorrows and amplified thousand fold, the little joys that love can bring. Like why gals like flowers when they know it will wilt the next day.

Love is a gamble everyone is free to play. Issue is what are your stakes.
